MSH Continues to Make Significant Progress

The DPHHS Director’s Office’s sustained investment in and emphasis on MSH leadership has contributed to MSH receiving its first multi-year state license renewal in several years, following a survey in October 2024. Surveyors applauded the hospital for its quality of documentation, noticeable team approach, focus on patient life and safety, and commitment to transparency.

In 2022, DPHHS contracted with Alvarez and Marsal (A&M) to help improve operations of all state health care facilities, including MSH. This contract ended December 2024. The transition of this initiative and compliance ownership from A&M to MSH leaders represents a seismic shift in leadership and culture at MSH.

Investments for the Future

The State of Montana continues to invest in MSH capital projects. The funding allocated for various MSH various projects related to MSH recertification is $21.6 million. These projects are expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
